Elucidating reaction mechanisms on quantum computers.

چکیده
With rapid recent advances in quantum technology, we are close to the threshold of quantum devices whose computational powers can exceed those of classical supercomputers. Here, we show that a quantum computer can be used to elucidate reaction mechanisms in complex chemical systems, using the open problem of biological nitrogen fixation in nitrogenase as an example. We discuss how quantum computers can augment classical computer simulations used to probe these reaction mechanisms, to significantly increase their accuracy and enable hitherto intractable simulations. Our resource estimates show that, even when taking into account the substantial overhead of quantum error correction, and the need to compile into discrete gate sets, the necessary computations can be performed in reasonable time on small quantum computers. Our results demonstrate that quantum computers will be able to tackle important problems in chemistry without requiring exorbitant resources.

Investigation of N-doped Graphene as an Absorbent for some Gases: A DFT Study
At the present theoretical study, DFT calculations were performed for elucidating thereaction, absorption energy and the quantum molecular descriptors including electronic chemical potential, chemical hardness, Homo, Lumo, band gap energy (Eg) and finding the most active nitrogen-doped graphene sheet (N-G) for absorption H2S, CH4, N2 and CO2 gases. Finally it found that nitrogen-doped gra...

Enzyme-catalysed reactions span a wide range of reaction types and mechanisms. In many cases the rate-determining step is the transfer of a proton, hydride ion, or hydrogen atom; such reactions are almost always dominated by quantummechanical tunnelling. The effective barrier for tunnelling is highly dependent on the evolution of zero-point energy along the reaction path, and zero-point energy ...
متن کاملSimulation of chemical isomerization reaction dynamics on a NMR quantum simulator.
Quantum simulation can beat current classical computers with minimally a few tens of qubits. Here we report an experimental demonstration that a small nuclear-magnetic-resonance quantum simulator is already able to simulate the dynamics of a prototype laser-driven isomerization reaction using engineered quantum control pulses. The experimental results agree well with classical simulations. We c...
متن کاملExperimental study of quantum simulation for quantum chemistry with a nuclear magnetic resonance simulator.
Quantum computers have been proved to be able to mimic quantum systems efficiently in polynomial time. Quantum chemistry problems, such as static molecular energy calculations and dynamical chemical reaction simulations, become very intractable on classical computers with scaling up of the system. Therefore, quantum simulation is a feasible and effective approach to tackle quantum chemistry pro...
